Based in Norway, Josphine Merisa (b. 1996, Kenya) uses her art to
explore themes of identity and cultural heritage. Blending African
traditions with modern multicultural contexts. Her art attempts to
capture the complexities of a black African life in a dynamic and
often turbulent world, while bringing attention to the nuance of
human emotions.
Gaining recognition for her unique style and cultural narratives
in the art world, following a series of exhibitions and solo
exhibitions.
My hope is that each piece becomes a mirror-not only reflecting
the subjects and their narrative,
but also awakening emotion, curiosity and connection in the
viewer.
